Pivot Chats

Real conversations with world-changing entrepreneurs who dare to follow the call to evolve their life’s work.

Simply starting a business doing work you love is an act of true bravery in itself.

But seasoned entrepreneurs know that making bold, courageous decisions
that might even be risky or “crazy”
across your entire journey
is what actually creates sustainable success and true fulfillment.

Your work is going to evolve and change over time, just like you do.

This means, my friend, that pivots and transitions are inevitable.

Natural.

Normal.

And ESSENTIAL to your ongoing growth and your business’ sustainability.

But pivots and transitions can be messy, confusing, frustrating, and gut-wrenching.

It’s something most business owners go through alone,
or only talk about privately…until now!

Are you going through a creative pivot,
a business transition,
or just know that something’s gotta change?

You’re not alone!

These conversations share the raw truth of
what it’s REALLY like
to pivot, transition, and make brave decisions
to follow your fulfillment
as your career evolves over time.

Episode 10 - From stuck and frustrated to next-level impact, and fulfillment

with Yulin Lee

Feeling stuck, and noticing that you’re not enjoying your work as much as you used to is something that just simply happens. Not because you’re doing something wrong, but because that’s the natural ebb and flow of what it is like to run a business and do work you love.

Helping me to normalize this common experience, and sharing how she pulled out of her stuckness, is this week’s guest, Yulin Lee, Money Empowerment Coach and Author. After almost a decade of coaching, Yulin felt stuck. Energetically low. Like she was banging her head against a wall.

Cut to today, Yulin is more fulfilled than ever, her business is blooming, and she’s finding her impact with her clients is growing. In short, she’s truly upleveled as a coach and a business owner.

Join me for a powerful conversation about what it feels like when stuckness pops into your work, and how to move through it and with it, towards your next level of success and fulfillment.

Episode 9 - The Internal Pivots Behind a Big External Pivot

with Jennifer Battle

What most people see out the outside looking in on someone else’s pivot is the big stuff, like what they used to do, and what they do now.

But on the outside looking in, it’s virtually impossible to learn from someone else’s pivot. Because all you’re seeing is the end result. It’s way too easy to misunderstand, over-simply or dilute the journey into one single moment.

But what about the journey they went through to get there?

Last year, Jennifer Battle pivoted to create Success Revolution Society - a unique and powerful community of entrepreneurs who network, mastermind, and support each other.

In this episode, we’re talking about all the mindset shifts Jennifer went through that led to her creation of this new community.  From self-trust, to over-strategizing, to talking about how challenging the entrepreneurial journey is, this conversation is not sugar-coated! It’s real, and you’re gonna learn a lot!

Episode 8 - Gravel Roads & Seasons of Change

with Kayla MacArthur

“This is it for me.” That’s how we kick off this conversation with Kayla Macarthur, Transformational Coach, and Author.

Sounds like an ending, right? Well, it’s just the beginning of Kayla’s story!

This conversation covers…everything! The beauty of creative processes, the confusing moments, and the voids we feel in the “winters” along the entrepreneurial journey.

Kayla recently published her first book, Gravel Roads, with her partner Ryan Crain.

She jumped at this “silver platter” opportunity, as it took her along a journey of finding her own unique way to be both a coach and a writer. We talk all about how she figured that out for herself, and everything else along the way.

Episode 7 - Changing Titles, Modalities, and Other Refinements

with Manisha Tare

In this episode, I'm chatting with Manisha Tare, Embodiment Coach and Mentor, about her 10+ years as an entrepreneur. Manisha's work has stayed within the same field but like all of us, she’s had her share of different iterations and evolutions along the way.

She’s added new modalities, changed from in-person to online, changed her focus and her target audience. In fact, Manisha changed her title the day before we recorded this episode! We tried it on for size during our chat!

We chatted all about:

  • Mini-pivots, deepening, and refinements of her work

  • How hard it can be to give yourself a title when not everyone understands what you do

  • Creating something for her clients that she wished had existed to support her

  • Honoring her style and preference for working with clients in a long-term container

  • Her new title and how it feels 24 hours after the change!

Episode 6 - The Pivot That Inspired Pivot Chats

In this episode, I'm sharing a little bit about MY OWN pivot! I’ve pivoted a lot in the past, but this year’s pivot shook me like no other.

This week is about the burnout, anger, and shame I was feeling, and how it inspired me to start Pivot Chats.

I’ll also be talking about how Pivot Chats has evolved already, and we are only at episode 6!

You know that expression "building the airplane while flying it"? Well, that's how I started Pivot Chats! It’s how I’ve started lots of things in this business and it really serves my creative process.

And I am still ideating this amazing project, while also putting it out into the world! But it’s already FULL of lessons, reminders, and new ways of thinking. And I am just getting started!

Episode 5 -
Pivot Truths and Myths

If you’re pivoting, it may seem counterintuitive, but it actually means you’re upleveling to your next chapter.

Let’s stop the narrative that a drop in fulfillment, or feeling a creative shift coming is abnormal or wrong! Even though it can be confusing, I think it’s one of the most beautiful and powerful moments we get to have in our careers.

This week is another solo episode. I’ll be sharing all about the myths I've encountered in my journey and in supporting clients in this process.

Because if you have a perspective on your next pivot that holds you back, it'll just take longer and make it harder on you.

I'm not going to tell you how to avoid pivots. They are inevitable. But I am going to share with you some ways you may be making it a LOT harder on yourself. So you can shift into more ease and flow, even in the messy middle.

Episode 4 - Smaller Pivots on the Way to the Big Vision

with Kendall Cherry

Like all business owners, behind the scenes, Kendall has gone through several pivots - big and small. These pivots have not shifted her to a different vision, but have been critical shifts along her journey toward the same big vision that she’s been paving for years.

I love her story because it highlights what we can’t see when we look on the surface at someone else’s business. It’s all about the internal process, and adjustment to each step along the way.

The truth is that most of entrepreneurship is not a big transition. Most of business (and life) is made up of the smaller, day-to-day decisions and shifts that get us to each milestone.

Watch this episode and learn from the kind of pivot you might not even notice if she didn’t tell us.

Episode 3 - Normalizing the Pivot Experience

Let’s be honest, most pivots and transitions are only discussed behind closed doors…with your business coach, partner, or a trusted colleague.

Because there’s a weird, confusing, not-talked-about shame that entrepreneurs often feel when they’re pivoting. As if it’s not supposed to be happening. Or you’re doing it wrong.

Why? Because nobody talks about this (until now!)

I’m on a mission to normalize and shed light on this super-common experience to help YOU navigate your next pivot with more ease.

I think the pivot process is one of the most beautiful and powerful moments we get to have in our careers.

Let’s stop the narrative that a drop in fulfillment, or feeling a creative shift coming is abnormal or wrong. I want to help you start CELEBRATING your pivots and navigating them like the freaking champ you are so that you can make the biggest baddest mark on the world that you’re capable of.

In our 3rd episode, I'm sharing where I got the idea to start Pivot Chats, what I hope to accomplish with it, and how and why I want to reframe pivots for us all. It’s time to start looking at them differently, and it starts now!

Episode 2 - When Closing a Successful Business is the Best Decision

with Sarah Stokes

Sarah is a seasoned entrepreneur, who has run several successful businesses. This year, she shut her biggest, most successful business down, in service of creating an even deeper level of fulfillment.

This is not something most people would understand.  But I didn’t create Pivot Chats to help “most people.”

Pivot Chats is for visionaries and entrepreneurs who dare to make their wildest ideas into reality.

And, my friends, in the very best way, Sarah Stokes is not “most people.” And this decision is not what it seems to be on the surface.

So if you want to know what it’s REALLY like to make a gut-wrenching, bold, “seemingly crazy” decision like shutting down a successful business, you’re not going to want to miss this one!

Episode 1 - When Fulfillment Shifts

with Allison Dellatore

Allison noticed a minor shift in her fulfillment, and it inspired her to make an important decision. She dared to shift her focus from the thing she’s known for, to follow her evolution to what’s next.

Allison’s story reminds us that a pivot may not require a massive change on the outside. Her offers are still mostly the same, with a few adjustments. But pivots often originate from within us, and the end result may mean a huge impact on the inside
