Hi there! I’m Laura

I’m a multi-passionate, visionary, and creative thinker with big ideas. I believe pretty much anything is possible.

I love cats, coffee, travel, and scuba diving.

I’m a goofball, a rebel, and a bleeding heart.

I’m a dreamer, AND I also have my feet firmly planted on the ground. I have a strong practical side and am allergic to inefficiency.

I’m a Manifesting Generator (2/4), extroverted thinker & social introvert, and Pisces with a Taurus rising.

My unconventional path

After spending my first 22 years in North Carolina, I wanted to explore the world and see other ways of being, doing, and thinking.

So, I moved from North Carolina to Los Angeles with 2 friends, $2,500, and no job.

What some saw as risky and irresponsible, I saw as a thought-out adventure. I had a vision, and I trusted myself to figure out the details.

I quickly learned that my path would probably always be a little different from what I saw others doing.

I also learned that my job was to create MY path. (And I’m so happy with it!)

A few pivotal choices I’ve made along my path:

  • I studied abroad in Spain and it sparked what has become a lifelong exploration of cultures, people, and places.

  • I’ve moved around a LOT (LA, DC, North Carolina, San Francisco, Roatan, Honduras), and have taken many solo trips abroad.

  • I orchestrated 2 sabbaticals to travel around Southeast Asia by myself.

  • Instead of getting married, I’ve had several beautiful long-term relationships, and I am in my favorite one now.

  • I chose not to have kids, and I am deeply fulfilled in my role as an aunt.

  • I have made 3 cross-country moves and 1 international move (so far). 3 of those moves included 1 or more cats.

These days, I often hear:

“Laura, I have this idea, and you’re the only one who won’t think I’m crazy!”

(I believe many of the most brilliant ideas start out seeming a little bit “crazy”)

How I got here

Human Behavior Geek

At age 20, studying abroad in Spain, I realized I resonated more deeply with Spanish culture than I did my own.

It changed my life.

Mind blown and eyes WIDE open, I came home and confirmed that my Psychology + Spanish double major was perfect for me.

I was fascinated by different cultures, human behaviors, and how we grow, change, and evolve.

So, that confirmed what I wanted to LEARN about.

But as I approached graduation, the obvious career paths in either field — Spanish Teacher, International Relations, Psychotherapist — just didn’t resonate with me.

So I experimented a lot in my early 20’s with a variety of jobs to see what might work for me.

It’s all holistic

At 25, I found the right fit with my Master's program in Organization Development. I learned how to look at human behavior and business from a holistic perspective (or systems thinking), and how to be a good consultant.

In this program, I realized that this holistic approach was already part of my own innate talent, and the way I saw the world, people, and now I just added business to the list!

Consulting

As a consultant, I specialized in change management, leadership, and talent strategies. I helped implement major change projects across lots of different companies in different industries. I loved the variety, the assessment phase, and working on a team.

And, while we rarely called it “coaching,” I did a TON of coaching!

Pivotal Moment & Transition

I also moved around. A LOT. I traveled for fun and worked abroad.  By my mid-30’s, I realized that this “travel and move around” part of me was not just a youthful phase. I actually didn’t want to stay in one place, have kids, or be a corporate executive.

I also realized that after 11 years in consulting, I was no longer making the difference that I wanted to. I felt that there had to be something else for me…that better aligned to my skills and talents.

AND, I was burned out. Fried, in fact.

I decided (again) that MY best path was not the traditional route.

I doubled down on my way, and made some pivotal decisions about how I wanted to design the next phase of my life and career.

“Caminante, no hay camino. Se hace camino al andar.”

”Traveler, there is no path. You make the path as you walk.”

- Antonio Machado

6 years of entrepreneurship and counting

You know where this story’s going…I started a business!

Fun fact — I actually started out as a hypnotherapist! And I worked with my clients on personal growth and mindset.

I was determined to do something REALLY different than my last career. I had burned out and really needed a change.

But within the first 1-2 years, my style shifted, and clients began to ask for help with business challenges.

I soon realized that blending the mindset and personal growth WITH the business strategy and change consulting was actually the perfect combination for my genius and experience.

Today: Island Life

I currently live on Roatan, Honduras with my partner, where I scuba dive in my free time.

I truly love my simple, salty life. Living by the water is so good for my soul.

This island has taught me to slow down in ways I never could’ve predicted.

It’s taught me how to deal with my do-whatever-it-wants hair (IYKYK).

It’s taught me about community and being a good neighbor.

So, that’s me!
And this is truly my life’s work.

As Steve Jobs said, “you can only connect the dots looking backward.”

One of the most beautiful surprises in my life and career is how the dots really DO connect — now looking backward — even though in so many of those pivotal moments, I felt like I had no idea where I was going.

I just knew I wanted to be happy and I made the best decision I could at each moment in time. And in doing that, I’ve created a beautiful life and career that uniquely fits me.

I also know that my approach was SO right for me, but is definitely not for everyone.

I’d love to help you find a deeper level of fulfillment in YOUR business and life. And to help you create that tapestry that weaves beautifully through your values, your lifestyle, and where you want to take your work.
